This morning a little “reminder” popped up in my outlook inbox. It was untitled so I clicked it, confused about what I was supposed to do today.

“NON ID INFO SHOULD BE HERE BY NOW!!!!” said the reminder.

I guess I put that reminder there for myself when I first decided to send the money order and the paperwork away to get my file. That was about five weeks ago. Today is a month after my fake birthday.

It saddens me that money may have kept me and my natural mom to begin with and now it is still keeping us separated after twenty two years.

I’m still waiting on an email from GOAL about my Holt paperwork. Hopefully something positive will come of that.

My intentions are good, please universe, send me the money to find my mama.

I think it’s terrible that you have to pay to receive information about YOURSELF, as it should naturally just belong to you.

I am shown, once agin, my naivete regarding certain aspects of adoption. I thought adoptees (once they turned 18 – if not sooner) simply requested their info and it would be sent to them – no fuss, no muss.

I guess the way things should be and the ways things really are very rarely seem to mesh in adopto-land.

Your comment about your “fake birthday” had quite an effect as my daughter will be in the same boat. We are adopting from China, so unless she is left with some kind of note (which is rare and even then we cannot say with 100% certainty that the note is authetic), then the orphanage will be “guesstimating” her birthday. It may seem like a very small thing to most people, but I am beginning to see that it is not. It is another mystery. Another hole. Another lie. It is unfair.

I hope you receive everything there is to know about you and your natural family as soon as possible.
